Unless you have had your head in the sand for the past few weeks or avoided any social media then you will probably know that we were at NAB Show in Las Vegas. After the usual stresses of getting to Las Vegas we were ready for what turned out to be a very eventful show.

Leading up to the show, we announced a few key updates to MatrixStore, including support for hybrid workflows and Artificial Intelligenceintegration with Cantemo iconikhybrid storage architecture using Amazon Web Services, and support for IMF workflows. It was great to see this generate a good level of interest in the booth which got exceedingly busy keeping us on our toes!

NAB sport, Las Vegas

After a busy first day on the show floor, what better way to unwind than at our annual NAB Sports event. We have been running this for a few years now and it is always a good light-hearted way to get together with friends. This year was no exception with a great turn out and some good matches, which occasionally may have got slightly competitive (but in a friendly sort of way of course). A huge thanks to our supporters this year: Vidispine, Tradefair, CIS Group, Sony, and Amazon Web Services. Also a BIG thank you to everyone who took part.

Day 2

We kicked off with another slew of meetings and visitors on the booth. Whilst I’m sure some were there for the goodies, mostly we had some really worthwhile meetings with potential customers looking to make their storage more effective.

That evening was another eventful one. It started with our Welsh evening on the booth, bringing a bit of Welsh flavour to Las Vegas with Welsh whisky, cheese, and of course a few Welsh cakes!

And from there, the day just got better. Jon and Mark headed over to the IABM Broadcast and Media awards (BaMs™), where we were a finalist in the Store category. Knowing that the awards are judged by over 40 industry experts, we were absolutely blown away to have won.

The judges said of MatrixStore:

“a high-end product able to operate with the high resolution mastering video formats.”

Naturally the win put us in high spirits ready for the next day at NAB. This was particularly good given that our CEO, Jonathan Morgan had a couple of video interviews to do. The first was with Kitplus where Jon talked about hybrid workflows and Artificial Intelligence. He explained how hybrid workflows are kind of what we have always been doing. Now we are an AWS partner, meaning we can link up with AWS, moving data on prem and off prem. There is a lot of hype about cloud, but the reality is that there are workflows that work on cloud and there are workflows that work on premise. He also explained how AI can enable the ability to look within media content to analyse what is happening in that item and making content even more discoverable.

The second video was with the IABM. In this video, Jon started by giving a nice intro to Object Matrix, so if you are still trying to figure out what we do, check it out. He also highlighted the latest updates to MatrixStore and what that means for our customers. Of course, he could resist a quick mention of the award!

By the final day, we were absolutely buzzing from all the great successes, but I’d be lying if I didn’t say we were also pretty exhausted and ready to go home! Now we are back we have forgotten all about the exhaustion and we are already looking forward to IBC!
