File System Interfaces

MXFS - Applications

MXFS (MatrixStore File System)

High-Performance Local File System to Object Storage Access

Many applications require locally mounted file system access to read or write data. The Object Matrix solution MXFS provides that access on Windows, Mac, or Linux.

MXFS is a client application that represents a MatrixStore vault as a drive letter on Windows clients or a local volume on Mac or Linux

MXFS can run on one, or many client machines, with each instance providing access to a MatrixStore Vault

Allows MatrixStore to easily fit into your existing workflows

When used on multiple client machines, it can provide a very high aggregate bandwidth to the cluster

Packed with features to optimise the performance and reliability of sending data and the security of data between the client machine and the server

Key Features

Provides fast local file system access to MatrixStore object storage

Direct access to your content without the expense of 3rd party gateways

Enables content to be accessed directly from your desktop applications

Enables user-driven workflows

It is future-proof. When you write with one interface you can read with any other. Not the same for other erasure code-based platforms

Browse and stream content from MatrixStore to your computer

Easy to ingest, simple to drag and drop clips

Oh, and it is completely 100% free

Installing Dokan Library on Windows Based Systems

Dokan Library is required to use MXFS

If you are installing MXFS of versions between 3.2.3.2 to 3.2.5.11, the Dokan version to use is 0.8.0. All the necessary files are supplied by Object Matrix within the provided install packages.

SMB - Applications

SMB

Network File System Access

Many organisations implement SMB network shares to enable users and applications to write or read data via standard interfaces. MatrixStore object storage supports access to content via SMB thus ensuring existing workflows work out of the box.

Provides file system access across your organisation without needing to install special software on client machines

Optionally launch multiple SMB servers against MatrixStore object storage when wider bandwidth is required

For security reasons, SMB is served outside the storage (on servers or VMs), ensuring data is has added protection from unauthorised access

Centralised control of multiple SMB servers and user access rights via the MatrixStore Administrator application

It can be installed with failover configurations

Supports Samba variants and CIFS protocols

Key Features

Provides access for multiple users using a standard network share

Integrates with active directory giving seamless access to MatrixStore object storage

Works out of the box with a wide array of your existing applications

S3Connect - Applications

S3Connect

AWS S3 Access to MatrixStore Object Storage

Many media workflow applications access cloud and object storage solutions using the AWS S3 API. S3Connect enables those applications to read and write data and metadata to MatrixStore object storage as if it were AWS S3 storage. For security reasons, the S3Connect application is installed on a gateway server allowing S3 clients to connect to it whilst relaying the data sent/read to and from MatrixStore object storage.

S3Connect runs on Linux

Centralised administration of S3Connect can be achieved from the MatrixStore Administration application including user access rights

S3Connect can optionally be run on the MatrixStore Hub (see configurations)

Allows MatrixStore object storage to easily fit into your existing workflow with many existing tool-sets

Key Features

S3 API compliant simple and non-destructive integration

Searchable repository using S3 API enabled applications

Easily migrate from public cloud to MatrixStore On-Prem or MatrixStore Cloud Storage

MXFS - Applications

NFS

NFS Access to MatrixStore Object Storage

NFS provides a standard means of accessing MatrixStore object storage without the need for client software.

Many graphics, finishing, and motion applications run on LINUX infrastructure and move data via the NFS protocol. MatrixStore object storage supports access to content via NFS thus ensuring existing media workflows work out of the box.

Provides file system access across your organisation without needing to install special software on client machines

Option to launch multiple NFS servers against different MatrixStore vaults when wider bandwidth is required

Centralised control of multiple NFS servers and user access rights via the MatrixStore Administrator application

Unlike other clustered storage solutions, the NFS server runs on an external Linux gateway server, therefore protecting the nodes from potential security breaches or hacks

Key Features

Provides access for multiple users using a standard network share

Integrates with active directory giving seamless access to MatrixStore vaults

Works out of the box with a wide array of your existing applications
