The £1.9 million Cost of GDPR
The £1.9 million cost to a small business
Businesses shed sweat, tears and cash developing their community of customer & prospect contacts.
At Object Matrix we didn’t buy some dodgy database, we grafted for every single one.
In all cases, cards have been handed over willingly as people want to be kept in the loop.
Today our contacts are being bombarded with opt-in emails. A redundant process that will ensure they hit no more than yes.
And that will be costly to any company.
I estimate Object Matrix has spent over £1.9m building a community of over 6000 contacts.
We email those contacts twice a month and when people think it is too much they unsubscribe. We have lost around 10% from that process.
The other 90% are happy to keep receiving our weird and wonderful emails that keep them abreast of technological change, broadcast industry updates and the trials and tribulations of building a private cloud business from sunny South Wales!
My gloomy prediction is we will lose 50% of our EU database. A cost of over £500k to Object Matrix.
So before you hit opt-out on your next email, think of the company behind it and how you can help them to continue growing.
BTW, we will be giving you the option to opt-in very soon in a typically Object Matrix manner!
